Wolf: no because I did not have eeepc-acpi. No I have and I can see it in the USB device list. I have not yet try to use it.

Booting Debian on it with gdm and then awesome take something like 30 sec, it's ok for me

Enjoy! The keyboard imho is much more of an issue than the screen (which is often the first thing people complain about)

You should be able to decrease the boot time. The Xandros system provided was targeted to boot in 15 seconds. Most of the changes made to achieve that were to ensure that you only start the services necessary for the basic desktop. I think the boot time is longer if you use the optional "full desktop" since it needed to start more KDE services.

Congratulations on the new toy! You'll get used to the keyboard soon enough. As far as tuning stuff goes, ext3 with an ordered journal may not be ideal for the life of the solid-state drive. writeback mode, while slightly more dangerous with data, should help extend the life of the drive, as the data itself isn't being written twice.

Ah ... le bon vieux kt2001 et son successeur le kt2001-pro qwerty 105 touches ...

Ils me manquent tellement

J'ai réussi à trouver des keytronics chez hooleon (site américain permettant de customiser ses claviers à la commande), j'ai pris 4 keytronics pour avoir le stock (j'en ai crâmé 5 en 7 ans ... avec à chaque fois un verre d'eau malencontreusement renversé

Je me suis pris :

- la version dvorak (pensant que j'allais épater mes potes =))

- la version avec les couleurs pour les doigts (arc-en-ciel, c'est jouli)

- la version qwerty (bah ouai, classique)

- une version azerty mais ce n'est pas le layout du kt2001 pro

Par malchance, je n'avais pas remarqué que tous étaient des claviers 104 touches (et non pas 105) ce qui est vraiment énervant lorsque l'on utilise linux ...

La touche manquante est le < situé en bas à gauche à la droite de la touche "MAJ", qui est plus large sur un 104 touches ...

Inutilisable en azerty donc ...

Je referai une commande en spécifiant que je désire le layout 105 touches, on ne sait jamais ...

Pour le moment j'utilise un saitek gaming keyboard dont je ne suis pas franchement satisfait :

- le toucher est mou
- le "keypad" additionnel ne fonctionne pas sous linux (enfin, il serait reconnu comme un périphérique HID standard m'a-t-on dit ... soit, mais comment le mapper ou l'utiliser pour y placer des macros ? Je n'ai pas l'envie de me lancer dans le dev d'une telle appli ... je considère que c'est du ressort des constructeurs ... enfin bref ...)

+ les touches sont rétroéclairées (mais ne sont pas transparentes, ce qui laisse une fausse impression qu'on y voit mieux dans le noir, étant donné que la lumière passe sur les cotés des touches seulement, et que du coup on n'en voit pas le dessus =) (je m'en cogne je tappe sans regarder :P)
Du coup, ça en jette quand même un peu =)

Prochain clavier à priori un razer tarantula mais leur layout est en 104 touches donc je leur ai envoyé un msg pour savoir s'ils projettent d'en sortir une version azerty / 105 touches ... rien n'est moins sûr.

Le top serait un kt2001-pro étanche qui aurait la réactivité du tarantula à 1KHz quoi ... c'est beau de rêver !

Asus boards seem to be getting worse and worse - I have a home server with a top-end Asus inside it, which suffers from inadequate CPU frequency scaling (you ought to be seeing 1GHz or less on your Core 2, it's not going that low because Asus' ACPI implementation is busted)

It also suffers from major issues with networking - see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+... and a whole host of similar bugs for example. Fishing furhter into the problem suggests Asus have written a completely broken firmware for their onboard networking.

Unimpressed with the company.

I had a keyboard exactly like this and my "N" key broke after 6 months of usage. I will never buy desktop keyboards with laptop keys ever again.

Je dénie toute responsabilité concernant le whisky-coca qui a fait succomber un de tes beaux claviers. Je n'étais presque pas dans le coup. On peut-être un peu, mais alors c'était un coup de trop :D
