Window manager

Wouter is annoyed by Gnome. And I understand him.
Since several years, I have been looking for a good window manager, and it is very hard to find. Maybe I am very hard to satisfy (and that's probably not a problem with window managers only, thought. M-x doctor help me please!), but I never found the-ultimate-fast-flexible-easy-to-configure-and-do-what-I-want-without-I-have-to-ask-you window manager.
I tried Gnome last year for some days, and I did not like it because it used gconf, and I dislike it, and because metacity sucks. Yes I know, I could switch away Metacity, but go out, Gnome without Metacity is just a wm+gnome panel thing (I hate desktop icons).
Wouter maybe you could give a try to Fluxbox, which I used several years, before switching to fvwm. Fvwm satisfy me because it can do anything you want if you have some months in front of you to configure it *g* !

a graphical conf tool would be welcomed to configure fvwm.
also, I was unable to load those fucking themes. Themes should be in zip format so you only do fvwm-themes mytheme.zip, and it is OK.
Give a look at this one: http://www.toyd.org/
Toy'd (Take Over Your Desktop) seems to be a pretty promising project.
It's still under heavy development (I've heard a Beta release is scheduled for this summer, and a first release for november or december 2006), but some tests are already looking kind of nice.
And the nice thing is, Toy'd can be used on UNIX or Linux based platforms, but also under Microsoft's Windows... Yep... no more ugly explorer... that would be so cool
