That's just something I hear from time to time, and I love it so much.

I think you missed one:
XMonad: 2228 SLOC.
(Admittedly XMonadContrib, which includes some functionality which I think lives in Awesome's core, is 20588 SLOC.)
*cough*dwm*cough*
constantine, I was comparing window managers.
You missed kwin
What tool did you use to count SLOC and generate the cute graphs?
@Runa: Ohloh, of course.
Those graphs would be so much more convincing if they were all on the same scale.

@Donnie Berkholz: "Those graphs would be so much more convincing if they were all on the same scale."
If they were all on the same scale, either everyone else would be off the chart, or Awesome minuscule.
Why doe it seem to me that all of the window managers have been steadily growing (except perhaps Openbox which shrunk at one point, and even it is growing steadily now)?
You are comparing it only to non tiling WM's.
Which is correct since awesome is not a tiling wm.
dwm consists of less than 1/10 of your SLOC count.

Rubbish! Of course awesome is a tiling window manager. It even defaults to tiling.
Nearly every tiling window manager offers max, floating (stacking) and tiling layouts in their default configuration--that's not a unique feature to Awesome.
Try comparing Awesome with window managers in the same class:
* dwm
* xmonad
* musca
* scrotwm
Your examples are apples and oranges.
